I grew up as the only girl with five brothers, learning early on how to hold my own in male-dominated environments. I was taught that girls and women could do whatever we set our minds to, as long as we are willing and strong enough to take on all opposition. In this spirit, I dove into school work, ultimately earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the very male-dominated field of Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech and George Washington Univ.
In the workplace, I discovered the large and small barriers women have to hurdle, especially as an engineer. I played the game, fought back, and more importantly changed the game as needed to keep moving forward in my career – while raising two children as a single mother.
After over a dozen years in engineering, I made the move to technical sales, and currently lead the East Coast Sales organization for a Silicon-Valley-based software company.
I’m passionate about helping women find success at work. I believe that with a little guidance and support and a lot of commitment, women can achieve everything they desire.
I live in Ashburn, Virginia and enjoy singing jazz, modern choral music, swing dancing, writing, and spending time with my family.
